Why LAN is usually the most stable solution
A network cable transfers data without radio interference, walls or congested channels. This generally keeps the connection to Fire TV, an Android TV device, Smart TV or computer more consistent. LAN is the first choice especially for 4K, multiple simultaneous streams or a router close to the TV. The drawback is obvious: a cable must be routed and not every device has an Ethernet port.
When 5 GHz Wi-Fi works well
5 GHz Wi-Fi offers high data rates and is often less congested than 2.4 GHz. It works well when the router and TV device are in the same room or separated by only a light wall. Range is shorter, so the signal drops faster in distant rooms. Full Wi-Fi bars alone do not guarantee stable transmission; fluctuations, packet loss and competition from other devices matter.
Why 2.4 GHz causes problems more often
2.4 GHz Wi-Fi reaches farther but is used by many routers, Bluetooth devices and household appliances. This can increase latency and fluctuations. It may still be sufficient for HD when the signal is stable and there is no heavy load. If buffering recurs, compare it with 5 GHz or LAN.
How to compare both connections fairly
Start the same content on the same device and change only the network connection. Pause downloads, note the time and observe for several minutes. Use LAN when a cable can be installed easily.
